During a routine cleaning of Dal Lake on Saturday, workers came across parts of a shell that had exploded there during Operation Sindoor in May.
The Lake Conservation and Management Authority staff found the remains and handed them over to the nearest police station for examination and further action.
On May 10, a missile-like object had crashed into Dal Lake, one of Srinagar’s main tourist spots, after loud explosions shook the city. Smoke rose from the water’s surface and security forces later retrieved the debris.
Another suspicious object was also found the same day in Lasjan on the outskirts of Srinagar. Several blasts were reported across the city on May 10.
