Send Push
Tyreek Hill’s absence has shaken the Miami Dolphins ’ season. The eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro suffered a devastating knee injury in Week 4, leaving fans questioning whether he will be on the field today as Miami faces the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte.

Will Tyreek Hill play against the Carolina Panthers today? (Oct. 5)

No. Tyreek Hill will not play against the Carolina Panthers. The Dolphins wide receiver dislocated his knee in the third quarter of Miami’s Sept. 30 win over the New York Jets, tearing multiple ligaments, including his ACL. Hill underwent surgery the same night, and his agent Drew Rosenhaus said on Oct. 1 that the procedure “went great” and no additional surgeries are expected.

The Dolphins placed Hill on injured reserve Oct. 1, officially ending his 2025 season. He returned to the team facility Oct. 3 to speak to teammates but will not suit up again this year.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said the Dolphins will replace Hill by committee. Jaylen Waddle steps into the top receiving role, while Malik Washington and veteran tight end Darren Waller are expected to see increased targets. McDaniel stressed that Miami would rely on execution across the roster rather than forcing one player to fill Hill’s production.

Both the Dolphins and Panthers enter Week 5 with 1-3 records. Miami is looking to build on its first win of the season, while Carolina hopes to snap a three-game losing streak. This will be the Dolphins’ first game without Hill since a 30-0 win over the Jets in 2023.

Tyreek Hill’s long recovery and uncertain future with Miami

Hill’s injury timeline remains fluid. The Mayo Clinic estimates a six-month recovery for athletes after a knee dislocation, while other cases, including Teddy Bridgewater’s, have stretched past a year. Rosenhaus has said the goal is to have Hill ready by Week 1 of the 2026 season, but sources around the league doubt such a quick return.

Contract structure complicates his future with Miami. Hill’s deal carries a $52 million cap hit in 2026 with little guaranteed money. According to Spotrac, the Dolphins could save nearly $24 million if they release him before his salary and bonuses lock in March 2026. CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported Oct. 4 that league sources expect Miami to move on before that date.

For now, Hill’s focus is recovery, but the Dolphins’ front office faces major decisions. McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier entered this season under pressure after a disappointing 2024 campaign. Whether Hill remains in Miami may depend on both his health and the team’s direction after this year.
