The relationship between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and the Royal Family has remained strained since the couple's departure from royal duties in 2020. This worsened when Harry and Meghan released a Netflix documentary about their life as working royals, were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, and released a tell-all memoir.
Royal commentator, Ingrid Seward, told Fox News: "The flea in the ointment really is very much Meghan. She's disliked intensely by a large number of the monarchists of this country. They see her as being very... damaging to the Royal Family."
She further claimed Americans dislike Meghan for one key reason: "I think a lot of people in America feel the same. They don't like that Meghan [reportedly] dissed her husband's family and dissed her own family."
Meghan's father, however, did not attend her wedding due to health reasons. Reports also surfaced about him staging paparazzi photos, which he claimed were to improve his public image.
Thomas Markle has never met his grandchildren and has previously said he "longs to meet his grandchildren before he dies".
