Cleaning oven glass is not a chore that's often at the top of our cleaning to-do lists, which means that grease stains and baked-on food splatters can be left on there for weeks or months at a time. When you do find the time to get around to it, the oven cleaning task can prove to be a tricky job. However, the trick is knowing how to do it quickly and effectively.
Taking to his TikTok page @probablywothsharing, Marko has shared his go-to method for cleaning an oven door, and "it only takes five minutes", he claimed. Showing viewers his oven door stained, then completely clean, Marko shared that "all you need" is baking soda.
For this method, sprinkle baking soda onto the oven glass, just enough that the door is completely covered.
The next step is to grab a wet sponge and rub the glass all over. This will turn the baking soda into an effective cleaning paste. Make sure to use more water if it doesn't turn into a paste.
The baking soda tends to stay in clumps, so do your best to evenly smear it around the glass door.
Leave the baking soda paste to soak on the oven glass for five minutes. Marko said, "After five minutes, you should be able to remove most of the grime with a quick and easy scrub with the sponge."
However, if there are any stubborn spots, add some more baking soda as it "acts like a mild abrasive to remove the grease".
The last step is to just dry off the oven door, and it'll "look brand new".
Baking soda is a natural, mild abrasive, so it gently scrubs away stains, grease, and grime that have built up on the oven door.
It also absorbs stains as the powder changes from bright white to a brown mess as it cleans. This is the baking soda pulling out those brown stains from the glass oven door.
While using baking soda takes a little more time and effort than using an oven cleaner, it certainly does the job, and without harmful chemicals.
