Manchester United are set to unveil Ruben Amorim's latest summer signing in the next 24 hours as a pre-season clash against West Ham United awaits in New Jersey. MetLife Stadium will host the Red Devils' second friendly of their 2025/26 preparations after a 0-0 draw with Leeds United at Stockholm's Strawberry Arena last weekend.

Matheus Cunha dazzled in that outing as part of his unofficial debut after joining in a £62.5million deal from Wolves. Paraguayan 18-year-old Diego Leon also showed glimpses of promise following his £3.3m arrival from Cerro Porteno.

When United meet the Hammers across the river from Manhattan, where kick-off is due at midnight for viewers in the UK, it will be Bryan Mbeumo's turn to introduce himself.

Amorim finally sealed his priority transfer target earlier this month following a prolonged negotiation process with Brentford.

Mbeumo communicated that United were his chosen club at the start of June, sparking a long, winding saga that ended with his Old Trafford arrival.

Brentford rejected packages worth £55m and £62.5m for the 25-year-old forward before accepting a guaranteed £65m plus £6m in add-ons.

Mbeumo was on the plane to Chicago with his new teammates the day after his unveiling, and he now has the opportunity to serve up a taste of what he will offer.

Amorim has already suggested that he will prioritise minutes for his strongest line-up after using a different team in each half against Leeds.

He told club media: "We are going to give more time to the starting XI. We are going to make changes during the second half, but we need to give more time to have that impact on the players.

"It's important for them to have more time to feel the game, but it's not a decision about who's the best starting XI to start against Arsenal. We are going to see things.

"But, of course, we need to give more time because it's not the same to play for just 45. We need to increase the time."

While Amorim claims his team will not offer a hint at his plans for that Premier League opener against Arsenal, it's hard to think otherwise.

Mbeumo could be introduced in the second half, given he has less training time and match sharpness in his legs than his teammates.

But United supporters will undoubtedly be tuning into the action to get a glimpse of their new No. 19, if not anything else.
