A Brit relocated to the Balkans earlier this year and says he doesn't regret his decision and has no intention of coming home. Scott McClure decided to move his life from Scotland to Croatiasix months ago.
In a video on his TikTok account (@thecreatoroperator), he said his new home is "so much safer" and has half the crime rate of the UK. McClure said: "You feel way safer when walking home at night. Whereas when you're in the UK, you don't know what could happen." The Brit added that the cost of housing is another win for Croatia, saying his bills are 33% less now, saying: "You can rent villas like this for the same price as a two-bedroom flat in the UK." He also prefers the Balkan country due to the weather, as "you're guaranteed 30C plus in the summer", whereas, in the UK, "it's miserable all year round".
Scott said in the TikTok that one of the things that drove him away from the UK was that it is "run terribly" and that he feels "it's only going to get worse".
He says simple things like respecting the countryside are rare in the UK. But something like throwing litter out of a car window, he says, "you don't see it in Croatia."
His TikTok video has received tens of thousands of views, as well as hundreds of comments and likes from other social media users.
Many expressed an interest in moving to the Balkan state, with people sold on relocating there by Scott's glowing review of the country.
One person said: "Whoa! You had me at the villa rentals! Great breakdown. I arrive next week and I'm thinking of getting a Croatia digital nomad visa!"
Another said: "It's the best place to live!" A third added: "I've looked at going to Croatia to work. The authentic living culture is more attractive than the UK."
