Karoline Leavitt provided insight into Donald Trump's emotions following the assassination of his close ally, Charlie Kirk, at a university event last week.
JD Vance presented a special edition of The Charlie Kirk Show on Monday, describing it as an honour and a chance to "pay tribute to my friend."
Vance had already honoured Kirk the previous week when he and Second Lady Usha Vance escorted his coffin on a flight to Phoenix last Thursday, the day following the assassination. The news comes as Charlie Kirk murder suspect 'refuses to co-operate' as transgender partner confirmed.
Multiple guests, including the White House Press Secretary, appeared alongside him on the programme. Leavitt described how Kirk had motivated her as a Gen Z conservative who was "raised within the MAGA movement."
She continued that Trump's team had collaborated extensively with Kirk "because we needed his voice to relay that to the audience, which is made up of young people across the country.", reports the Express US.
Trump, in response, addressed numerous Turning Point gatherings, according to Leavitt, and formed a strong bond with Kirk. "The president loved Charlie deeply. You know that, Mr. Vice President, and I know that," she said.
"And I know that he deeply is hurt by this loss because Charlie played an instrumental role in returning the president to the Oval Office."

Leavitt noted that Kirk was "speechless" for the first time in his life when Trump secured the presidency in November 2024, becoming the second president to serve a non-consecutive term.
