At the 2025 National Awards, history was made when 4-year-old Trisha Thosar won the Best Child Artist award for her role as Chinni in Naal 2. With this achievement, she broke a 65-year-old record previously held by South superstar Kamal Haasan, who received his first national honor at the age of six for Kalathur Kannamma in 1960.
Kamal Haasan Congratulates Young Talent
Kamal Haasan took to social media to congratulate Trisha, writing, “Dear Miss Trisha Thosar, I want to give you a big shout out. You've broken my record. I received my first award when I was six years old. You still have a long way to go. Keep working on your amazing talent. My compliments to your elders too.” Fans responded with admiration, noting how extraordinary it is for someone so young to achieve such recognition.
A Historic National Awards Ceremony
The 2025 ceremony also honored other Bollywood and South Indian stars. Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Vikrant Massey received their first National Awards, while Mohanlal was conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. However, it was Trisha Thosar’s record-breaking feat that became the highlight of the evening, making her the youngest recipient in the history of the awards.
