A sweet treat has been withdrawn from shelves as it could present a 'health risk' to certain consumers. The Food Standards Agency announced that East Midlands Foods Limited was pulling Oslo Arrivo Pistachio Cream Dubai Cake because the allergens aren't labelled in English.
The FSA warned: "This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to eggs, and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten (wheat) or those with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, and/or an allergy to nuts (almonds, hazelnuts and pistachios), and/or an allergy to peanuts, and/or an allergy to soya, and/or an allergy to sulphites."
The withdrawal concerns the Oslo Arrivo Pistachio Cream Dubai Cake packets weighing 40g and impacts all date codes.

The FSA continued: "This product contains eggs, gluten (wheat), milk, nuts (pistachios) and soya making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to eggs and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten (wheat) or those with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to nuts (pistachios) and/or an allergy to soya.
"This product may also contain nuts (almonds and/or hazelnuts), peanuts and sulphites. This makes it a risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts (almonds and/or hazelnuts), and/or peanuts and/or sulphites."
East Midlands Foods Limited is recalling a product due to allergy concerns, and has been advised to contact relevant allergy support organisations to inform their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers, explaining why the product is being recalled and advising them on what to do if they have purchased it.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to the allergens mentioned above, please return it to where it was purchased for a full refund."

The FSA further explained that sometimes there can be issues with a food product that necessitate its withdrawal from sale or recall. This can occur if there is a risk to consumers due to missing or incorrect allergy labelling, or any other food allergy risk. In such cases, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.
