Looks like the cosmic orange colour of iPhone 17 has become a massive hit ever since its launch. Many on the internet have been flaunting the bright colour and sharing their excitement about the possession of the new Apple phone. But one clever Indian shopkeeper has taken things to the next level with pure jugaad. A viral Instagram video shows him transforming an older iPhone into what looks like a shiny new iPhone 17 Pro Max in under a minute — complete with the signature orange finish, frosted glass back, and even the camera plateau.

How did he do it?
The video shows the shopkeeper performing a precise cosmetic makeover on an iPhone 16. Using cosmic orange vinyl paper, he carefully wraps the phone, cutting exact slots for buttons, ports, and trimming around the Apple logo to give it a factory-finished look. The result? An old iPhone that now looks like the latest model, with the Pro’s camera design and frosted back style meticulously recreated. He then proceeded to add a transparent cover over it as well. The video was shared with the caption that India is not for beginners.

Internet reacts to the desi jugaad

Internet users had plenty to say about the shopkeeper’s iPhone transformation. Several pointed out that the modification covered the camera flash and sensor, while others noticed that the Apple logo was slightly misplaced, joking that it might keep them up at night. Some noted that the flash and sensor on the real phone were blocked, calling the move both creative and chaotic. A few even joked that the shopkeeper must have been a former iPhone employee.

Others criticised the modification as impractical, pointing out that the LiDAR sensor got covered after the makeover. Some found the idea amusing and suggested starting a business to convert old iPhones into iPhone 17 Pro Max lookalikes. Many praised it as a clever example of Indian jugaad. Some users remarked that this stunt reflects how many people desire to appear wealthy in society. A number of netizens summed it up by saying that such a creative, out-of-the-box solution happens "only in India".
