LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana: Imagine, how would it be if you get a chance to work in your village or locality and earn a good amount every month? No rush, no tension of going to the city, and you can take care of the family at the same time. Sounds like a dream, right? But the country's most trusted company, LIC, has started a tremendous scheme to make this dream of women come true, which is called 'LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana'.
This scheme is especially for those women who want to stand on their own feet, want to contribute to household expenses, and want to create a different identity in society. The most amazing thing about this scheme is that the women joining it get a chance to earn a fixed help (stipend) of up to ₹ 7000 every month to set up their work in the beginning.
What is this 'Bima Sakhi' after all?
First of all, get rid of the idea that this is a government job. 'Bima Sakhi' is a special initiative of LIC, in which women are given a chance to work with LIC. You can consider it as a kind of female agent of LIC, but with a special status.
The job of a 'Bima Sakhi' is to meet people in the neighborhood, village, and locality and explain to them the meaning of insurance. She tells like a friend that there is no guarantee of life, so why is it necessary to get insurance? If something happens to the breadwinner of the family tomorrow, how will the insurance money become the support of the whole family? For this important work, LIC first gives you complete training, teaches everything, and then takes you to the field.
Who can become 'Bima Sakhi'? (Essential conditions)
LIC has tried to ensure that the maximum number of sisters can join this scheme, so the conditions have been kept very simple. If you also want to do this work, then see whether you fulfill these conditions or not:
What should be the age?:
Your age should be less than 18 years and not more than 70 years.
How much education is required?:
You should be at least a 10th pass.
Who cannot apply?:
This is also important to know. If any member of your family (like husband, son, daughter, father-in-law, etc.) is already an agent or employee of LIC, then you cannot join this scheme. Also, women who were earlier LIC agents or have retired from there cannot apply for it.
Understand the complete math of earning ₹ 7000 per month.
Now let's come to the most important thing, that is, the matter of money. LIC knows that it takes time to start any new work. That is why it helps 'Bima Sakhi' for the first 3 years. This help is in the form of a fixed amount (stipend).
First year:
You get a chance to earn a stipend of ₹7,000 every month.
Second year:
This amount reduces to ₹6,000 per month.
Third year:
You get ₹5,000 per month.
However, this money depends on your hard work. This is not a fixed salary. If you do good work, connect people to insurance, only then will you get this stipend. For example, you will get the money for the second and third year only if at least 65% of the policies you bought in the first year remain active.
The real income will come from commission: This stipend of 7 thousand is just to support you in the beginning. Your real and lifelong income will come from the commission you get on selling the policy. The more and bigger the policy you sell, the bigger your commission will be. There is no limit to the earnings in this. Many women agents are earning lakhs of rupees per month today.
How to apply for the 'Bima Sakhi' scheme?
The process of joining this scheme is very easy. You will not have to make many rounds of any office. Just follow these few steps:
Go to your nearest LIC branch:
Find the LIC branch in your area on Google or by asking someone.
Meet the Development Officer:
Go to the branch and meet any 'Development Officer'. They are there only to help you. Tell them that you want to join the 'Bima Sakhi Yojana'.
Fill the form and submit the documents:
They will give you a form, which has to be filled. Along with it, you will have to give photocopies of some important documents.

Proof of your address (Aadhar card, voter ID)
Proof of your education (10th mark sheet)

What are the other benefits of this work apart from money?
Boss of your time:

Respect in society:
When you become a support for people in their bad times, people look at you with great respect.
Always learn something new:
LIC keeps teaching you new things from time to time, which increases both your knowledge and confidence.
Opportunity to move ahead:
If you are educated (graduate) and work well for 5 years, then you can also get a chance to become a 'Development Officer', a big post in LIC.
